Assembly Bill 481 – Funding, Acquisition and Use of Military Equipment

On May 24, 2022, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors adopted Ventura County Ordinance 4603. This ordinance adopted Sheriff’s Policy 709 which governs the funding, acquisition, and/or issuance of “military equipment” as defined by Assembly Bill 481 (California Government Code section 7070).

To file a citizen complaint about an incident involving the use of military equipment by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, see the below listed attachments. All citizen complaints will be handled in accordance with Sheriff’s Policy 1003 which governs personnel complaints.
